Rarible = Rare HNS Web3 Domains
Today, I decided to mint my Top 20 Web3 HNS domains and create a new collection on Rarible.
How did that go?
Well, I did not expect it to go so smoothly to be honest and was quite surprised.
After I tried several other marketplaces and gave up on them. I finally had a go at Rarible and wow this marketplace is definitely one to join and upload your domains or NFTs. Although, I did encounter a small minting issue with my wallet which was set on the wrong blockchain. But after I figured this one out, it was smooth running.
I managed to mint these Top 20 domains juggling between my son and my daughter Sunday plays, cries and laughters.
Here is the result of a short afternoon work:
So why Rarible and not Opensea where all the big sales have been happening?
Well, for starters, from my three months experience with Opensea with my own NFT project and two separate OS AC for my Web2 / Web3 domains, I can honestly say that overall, I am very disappointed with their marketplace. It is a sad state of affairs for such a pioneer and leader in this NFT space but, it is the actual reality and the truth.
I only chose Opensea for my NFT and domains as I thought it was the most popular and reading of gas fees issues I wanted to be on the Polygon Blockchain.
But boy, I was not aware I would encounter so much drama and such downtimes. They even sent me a message one day, claiming I overreached my NFT collection limit. WTF, I only had minted 600/1000 NFTs and was shocked to read that just like that they stopped and closed access to minting anymore NFTs. After sending them a strong email to their CS support email, they mailed me back a few days later and apologised and I was now allowed back on to mint the Series 1 collection last 400 NFTs. I am currently on the last 100 to reach 1K and guess what they are free. Send me your wallet address, and I will gift transfer one to you.
I did read a few guys on Twitter complaining about this issue and ever since its been a daily battle to cope with their downtime, one minute it is Polygon who’s down, the next minute it is warning us of downtime or transition failures for the upgrading of their own servers, then the next day or two it is be careful of phishing. OMG!
This week another surprise they added a Catcha Widget: “Are You a Human” which slows the mint process. But I can agree for the safety reason which must be done to prevail any scammers or bots. Security over anybody’s time is definitely the highest priority here. After reading in their browser about all their security and phishing problem I am given up on Opensea and welcoming Rarible.
Just like all the other domain marketplaces where I spent hours, weeks, months and years on have all been a total waste of time. The time spent uploading all the domains, updating servers names, verifying to get zero leads or fake offers. Nah nah nah. My honest advise to anyone serious about selling premium domains is to stick to building their own website, doing their own marketing of their own domain names or like I am doing with Doctor Brand working together for a common goal to offer the world’s most curated Web3 domains and profit from each other collection.
From all the sale I did since 2016 to 2021, all are were “Outbound Emailing”. Sure you need exposure but you must select the most easy to work and professional marketplaces. Rarible is definitely one of them.
To give you a straight answer, after trying to sign up on Crypto.com, then Binance which did not work because of my location for some reason. I found the sign up and minting process and the amazing dashboard of Rarible very very smooth.
Plus our page looks a Billion $. Don’t you agree?
My expectations from this marketplace
Not much, I am just hoping for more “eyes on” our premium collection and for it to contribute traffic to the website. And, if I am lucky enough to get a decent or nearest offer to the BIN price, I certainly will be converting them for some ETH. We live in a digital world and decentralised digital money is the future.
Securing and promoting premium domains has never been so fun for Millennials and GenZ.
It is not as easy as one thinks and it is as demanding as a full time job, believe me. One, you must be multi skilled, two you must be focused on what you are going to buy and offer. Between the time spent researching all the new domain trends, reading and digesting all the latest technologies out there, the new players and keeping up with the key game changer such as Capital Funding from VC’s, mergers and acquisitions.
And on the top of all that, you have to be flexible in all the name searching and sorting out from the millions of domain names available and not get caught in picking bad apples. All this comes from methodically sorting them between their Exact Match and Domain Hack added value with an SEO and keyword analysis. Then, when you have done all this, comes the matching of the domain name with an awesome image or gif. I really like these gif, they so interactive and gives a new touch to domain marketing. And, the very last step, the pricing strategy which can be a domain killer. If too high no leads if too low, you will regret that cheap sale all your life. A fine balance between mixing alcohol for a cocktail or a tune at a party. It has to be perfect and be like “Boom Boom”. (Doctor Brand will love this part.) Only then, when you have done all of the above that you are ready to market your domain to your niche market and clients.
Trust me this is no easy task but definitely is the most fun job in the world. Reason why I went “All in” on Web3 domains last year and have set the bar high to have one of my domain in the Top 30 highest domain sale this year.
Love your feedbacks on our Rarible page, the domain selection, the images choice and the asking price.
And please don’t be this guy.
